Generally folks don’t think I need anyone to Show Up For Me. While they think I’m being all inspiring, strong and a sHero, they forget that I am human and that I on occasion need a friendly face in the crowd and in the seas of change around me.

This morning, while my new aide was slow in getting me out of bed, I didn’t make it to use the restroom in time. As she was standing, astonished and not sure what to do next, I called my Nephew.

In his 17-year-old early morning haze, I quickly summarized the situation for him and with nary a blink, with no wrinkling of his nose, without missing a beat, he set out to get the mop and cleaner and my supplies.

He rolled his sleeves up and Showed Up For Me. He didn’t ask why I needed his help, he didn’t question the situation. He didn’t pass or cast judgement. He didn’t stand on the sidelines and make it just my problem to deal with. He just Showed Up For Me.

I took a moment and thanked him, for being such an awesome kid. With so much happening lately, it felt good to have someone there for Me and showing it in such a tangible way. I love that kid <3
